Saxis Wildlife Management Area is a 5,578-acre protected area on Virginia’s Eastern Shore in Accomack County, composed mainly of tidal marshland divided into three tracts on peninsulas along brackish waters such as Beasley Bay, Pocomoke Sound, and Messongo Creek. Smaller freshwater creeks cross the property, and a few inland hummocks add slight variation to an otherwise marsh-dominated landscape that remains largely natural, with little development or intensive management. Its extensive marsh habitat helped earn recognition within the Delmarva Bayside Marshes Important Bird Area. Managed by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, it is open for hunting, trapping, fishing, hiking, boating, and primitive camping.
