The Quincy State Bank was a pioneer commercial banking house in Gadsden County. With E.P. Dismukes as president, it opened on 20 August 1889 under State Charter No. 1, issued twelve days earlier under the act creating a State Banking System, with original capital of $60,000. It became a strong institution under President Mark W. ("Pat") Munroe from 1892 to 1940. Its deposits reached one million dollars in 1919, its doors never closed during the Bank Crisis of 1933, and its resources stood at fourteen million dollars in 1964. The present building was constructed and occupied in 1961 under James J. Love, chairman of the board.
