This building was constructed in 1899 by J.D. Goudelock for use as a hotel, and the Commercial Hotel opened on July 1, 1900. In 1929, Mace Pennington opened the Majestic Cafe. The cafe was renovated in 1947, when the huge booths at the start and end of the row were installed and called "Family Booths" because they would hold 8 people. Mathis Brown purchased the building in 1961. In 2019, Darren and Jada Mason became the fourth owners in the building's history, and it continues to operate as the Commercial Hotel.
