At Moon's Station, a wood shed, water tank, siding, and log house stood where, on April 12, 1862, the pursuers of the Andrews Raiders, Fuller, Cain, and Murphy, acquired a push-car from section foreman Jackson Bond, which carried them 14 miles down grade to the Etowah River. On October 3, 1864, a Federal stockade garrisoned by 84 officers and men from the 14th and 15th Illinois stood on the high ground 50 yards east of the track. The stockade was attacked and captured by Reynolds' brigade of Walthall's division, Stewart's A. C., and on October 4 Loring's division captured the Federal garrison at Acworth, 4 miles north.
