Camp Helen State Park in northwestern Florida, just west of Panama City Beach, occupies a narrow strip of coast between the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Powell, one of the state's largest coastal dune lakes. Covering more than 180 acres, it is notable for bringing together beach, lake, and protected natural habitat in a compact setting. The park supports hiking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, birding, wildlife viewing, beachcombing, and picnicking. It is also recognized for its historic significance and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 24, 2012, making it valued for both recreation and preservation.
