Fresnal Canyon, in the Baboquivari Mountains of southern Arizona on the lands of the Tohono O'odham Nation, is significant both as a natural feature and as an archaeological site. Evidence of pre-ceramic Native American habitation found there makes it important for understanding early human presence in the region. The canyon is also known for its native desert plants and animals, including the elephant tree, Bursera fagaroides, which illustrates the distinctive ecology of the area.
