In early nineteenth-century Autauga County, the Indian Springs Post Office was a location of considerable community activity, the Thomas Hill House was the site of the first court after Autauga became a county, and the Union Baptist Meeting House of the 1830s was the forerunner of First Baptist Church. These sites were located within a half mile radius of this spot.
