The Natchez Trace Parkway is intended for leisurely travel through the history and beauty of the Old Southwest, with rules and safety guidance covering driving, wildlife, fatigue, hunting, firearms, hauling, commercial vehicles, truck size, camping, fires, protected natural and historical objects, pets, construction detours, fishing, boating, and recreation. Along the Parkway, visitors may hike sections of the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail, camp at designated campgrounds, bicycle the designated route, fish with a valid license under state regulations, take part in Junior Ranger activities, and ride horses on marked trail sections, while drones are prohibited within the Parkway boundary.
