The Old Muleshoe Ranch Cookhouse was built in Parmer County about 1897 and was bought and moved here about 1902. A Dodge City couple moving to Texas found a shoe thrown by a mule, used it for good luck, and adopted it as the branding iron on the ranch to which this old cookhouse belonged. It was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1965.
