The Bryan Museum in Galveston, Texas, opened in June 2015 in the restored Galveston Orphans Home and presents the history of Texas and the American West through the Bryan Collection, especially the region’s Spanish influences. Built over decades by J.P. and Mary Jon Bryan, this vast collection spans more than 12,000 years and includes about 70,000 items, among them rare books, multilingual documents, fine art, firearms, saddles, maps, folk and religious art, portraits, and Native American artifacts. Shaped by Bryan’s family ties to the Texas Revolution and expanded through major acquisitions, it serves as a major public repository of Texana and Western history.
