Its historic features include remnants of the Morris Canal, fed largely by Lake Hopatcong from the 1830s to the 1920s, a Scotch Turbine moved there in 1926 from Inclined Plane 3 East at Ledgewood, and the former lock tender’s house built around 1825 on the feeder canal, now the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum. The park also reflects earlier local industry tied to Brookland Forge and mills established around 1750 on the Musconetcong River.
