During the Civil War, brave boys from Weston and the surrounding area went wherever Columbia called them and died by many rivers, on sunny mountainsides, on battlefields, and in prison pens. Erected by old soldiers and patriotic citizens of Weston and vicinity, this memorial honors their noble soldier dead and also the patriotic women of 1861—1865, whose noble virtues and loyal deeds were perpetuated by the Ladies of Neibling Relief Corps.
