In 1860, a sketch showed a long multiple-unit structure parallel to the church that housed the Mission brothers and travelers, as well as a kitchen and repair shop. Prominent travelers who visited the Mission and may have stayed in this building included Issac I. Stevens, Governor of Washington Territory; Captain John Mullan, builder of the famous Mullan Road; and General William Tecumseh Sherman, of Civil War fame.
