The Pangburn Building was erected in 1914 by William R. (Bill) Pangburn, who made his own cement bricks from San Jacinto River sand hauled by horse and wagon. The building housed a drygood store, drug store, post office, cafe, dance hall, and a variety of other businesses. Pangburn's wife, Nancy, operated Granny Pangburn's boarding house at Moonshine Hill for many years.
