Production at the Aliquippa Works of Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation began in 1909 at this plant, once the largest integrated steel plant. More than 14000 persons were employed here. Collective bargaining under the Wagner Act began here in 1937 as a result of efforts of local employees.
