Chanchelulla Wilderness is a protected area in California within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, established in 1984 and covering about 12.6 square miles, or 8,062 acres. Centered on Chanchelulla Peak at 6,399 feet, it is notable for vegetation that shifts with slope and exposure: chaparral on the southern side and pockets of pine, fir, and cedar on northern slopes. Its wildlife includes deer, American black bears, fishers, North American cougars, birds of prey, owls such as northern spotted owls, and many songbirds.
