Legacy Park was created in 2007 by leaders in the regional healthcare community as a place of peace and reflection, honoring individuals whose legacy of caring left a permanent impact on the well-being of the community. The park was made possible by many donors, including Dr. Robert and Holly Hohm, Paul and Donna "Muffy" Christen, American Legion Post No. 7, HRMC Employees, Huron Noon Lions Club, Modern Woodmen of America, NorthWestern Energy, and VFW Post #1776. In 2018, Shelbey Hershman led a project to add the garden to Legacy Park as part of her Girl Scouts Gold Award project.
