History
1
Draper Terrace consists of one single-family and two double-family frame houses in the Hudson Valley cottage style dating from the early 1840s to the late 1850s. Scientist and historian John William Draper built the double houses as rental property after buying his Hastings estate in 1847, and the older corner house was modernized to match the newer ones. During the Civil War, David Farragut, commander of the Union Navy, rented the middle house as a refuge for his southern-born wife and son.
