Dukes Creek is a mountain stream in White County, Georgia, near Helen, flowing about 8.76 miles southeast to the Chattahoochee River and draining a watershed of about 22 square miles. Though small, it holds an important place in north Georgia history because gold discovered there in 1828, along with finds in neighboring Lumpkin County, helped ignite the Georgia Gold Rush. The creek is also tied to the popular Dukes Creek Falls, a 150-foot cascade on Davis Creek at its confluence with Dukes Creek. Part of the stream lies within the Smithgall Woods–Dukes Creek Conservation Area, underscoring its scenic and protected value.
