The Brick is a Greek Revival house with Italianate influences built in 1857 by William Barnett, a prosperous merchant who was elected mayor of Delphi in 1851. It stands on the site of an 1828 log structure that served as the first schoolhouse. Later owners included Presbyterian minister Samuel Seawright from 1879 to 1889; newspaper publisher and Metzger Lumber Company owner Henry Wilson and journalist Mindwell Crampton Wilson; Joseph and Joyce Fowler, with Joseph the owner of Fowler Furniture on East Main Street and a great-grandson of Moses Fowler of Lafayette, builder of the Fowler House; local auctioneers Doug and Sandy Davies; Delphi Preservation Society founding members Mike Sanders and Shari Rodriguez; and local business owners Dick and Karyl Traeger from 2005 to 2020. In 1920, vice-presidential candidate Franklin D. Roosevelt had refreshments there with Henry and Mindwell Wilson before delivering a speech at the newly constructed shelter house at City Park to the cast. Current owners Alan and Jacqueline Kirchoff are local business and industrial professionals.
