Hilgard Mountain is an 11,538-foot summit in central Utah within Fishlake National Forest, in Sevier County. Rising as one of the higher points in this forested mountain country, it stands out as a notable feature of Utah’s high-country terrain. The mountain was named for Julius Erasmus Hilgard, a former superintendent of the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey. Today it remains primarily a geographic landmark valued for its elevation and its place in the national forest landscape.
