Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway is a federally protected river corridor in eastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, managed by the National Park Service. It preserves 252 miles of the St. Croix and Namekagon rivers and adjoining lands, making it the largest scenic riverway east of the Mississippi River. As one of the original eight rivers in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers system, it holds an important place in conservation history, with protection advanced by Senators Walter Mondale and Gaylord Nelson. Valued for scenery and recreation, the riverway supports fishing, canoeing, boating, camping, hiking, hunting, tubing, and cross-country skiing, while connecting with other public lands across both states.
