Members of this community who gave their lives for their country and humanity in the late World War included Lieut. Jay D. Nichols, who died Dec. 11, 1918, at Camp Travis, Texas, after being killed in action in France; Pvt. Winfred L. Perrin, who died Mar. 26, 1918; Pvt. Gerald E. Fish, who died July 18, 1918; Pvt. Melvin L. Crandall, who died July 27, 1918; and Pvt. George H. Britton, who died Oct. 21, 1918.
