Harmony Grove Church was the first and oldest Protestant house in northern San Joaquin County. It was built in 1859 on land donated by Donald J. Staples, using bricks given by Dr. D.J. Locke, founder of Lockeford, and Mr. James Tallmadge, a builder and brick mason, and it was built by public subscription. Restoration was initiated by the Lockeford-Clements Women's Club. The building was donated to San Joaquin County and dedicated May 27, 1973. It remains actively used by the community and was registered as a Point of Historical Interest in February 1982.
