Pollock Mountain is a 9,195-foot peak on the Continental Divide in Glacier National Park’s Lewis Range, forming part of the Garden Wall south of Bishops Cap. Ross Carter named it for William C. Pollock, who, with Walter M. Clements and George Bird Grinnell, negotiated with the Blackfeet on the treaty that led to the federal purchase of the Ceded Strip, including land that became eastern Glacier National Park. The mountain consists of sedimentary rock laid down from the Precambrian through the Jurassic in ancient shallow seas, and its structure reflects the Lewis Overthrust. It rises in an alpine subarctic climate marked by long, snowy winters and short summers.
