The Meeting House

1
In 1880, several Latter-Day Saint families settled in this valley of the Portneuf and named the area Chesterfield. On Nov. 27, 1883, a branch of the Church was organized with Judson A. Tolman as presiding Elder. Labor was donated, lumber came from nearby canyons, and bricks were made locally for this Meeting House. It was dedicated on Aug. 28, 1892, and Pres. C.C. Parkinson offered the dedicatory prayer, asking the Lord to bless everything pertaining to the house. In 1960, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers were given a fifty-year lease on the building.
