Colonel John Franklin was a leader of Connecticut land claimants, served in the Sullivan Campaign in 1779, was imprisoned from 1787 to 1789 for leading a new state movement, later served in the Pennsylvania legislature, moved here in 1789, and died in 1831; his homesite and grave are east of the road.
