Fossilized dinosaur tracks in the Paluxy riverbed preserve an ancient story of two dinosaurs, Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon. Acrocanthosaurus was a fierce two-legged predator, one of the deadliest meat-eating carnosaurs, equipped with dagger-like teeth, claws that could rip through tough hide, and an upright gait that allowed it to outrun prey such as Sauroposeidon. Sauroposeidon traveled in large groups for safety as it moved from place to place to find food and evade predators, but neither that strategy nor its great size could fully protect it from hunters like Acrocanthosaurus. Enormous Acrocanthosaurus tracks, large saucer-shaped Sauroposeidon tracks, and a juvenile sauropod trackway have been found in the Paluxy riverbed.
