Joseph Wheeler, known as "Fighting Joe Wheeler," was a Confederate cavalry commander of the Army of Tennessee, a major general of cavalry in the U.S.A. in the Spanish American War, and a soldier, statesman, author, and planter. He was also one of Alabama's representatives in Statuary Hall in Washington.
