The Rainbow Forest area served as the original park headquarters from 1906 to 1962. In the 1920s, the museum was housed in a tar paper building, and a bumpy road wove through Giant Logs instead of a walking trail. Although many things have changed, the landscape itself remains much the same, moving at its own geologic speed.
