Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Cedric G. and Patricia Neils Boulter, classics professors at the University of Cincinnati, this Clifton house is one of his late Ohio residences and a notable example of his Usonian style. Commissioned in 1953 and built from 1954 to 1958, it uses a four-foot square module, concrete block, and Douglas fir in a split-level plan with layered interior spaces. The Boulters lived there until the 1980s. Later owners secured its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, restored and updated it, and kept it in residential use despite later fire damage and ownership changes.
