The Eastern Kentucky Railway had a junction here with the Elizabethtown, Lexington and Big Sandy Railway, which connected with the Ashland Coal and Iron Railway in Denton. In January 1882 both became part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. The Eastern Kentucky Railway and the Chesapeake and Ohio shared a depot here. In December 1932, the Eastern Kentucky Railway ceased operations.
