Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, in far northwestern California, is one of the units of Redwood National and State Parks. Established in 1925, it preserves both towering coast redwood forest and a rugged Pacific shoreline, including a large old-growth redwood landscape and about 8 miles of coast. The park expanded greatly over time, especially with the 2002 Mill Creek Addition. It was included in the California Coast Ranges International Biosphere Reserve in 1983, underscoring its ecological significance. Although budget crises brought closure threats in 2008 and 2011, with provisional National Park Service management arranged in 2011, the park has remained a protected part of a renowned redwood environment.
