Santa Cruz Breakwater Light stands on the breakwater at the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor in Santa Cruz, California, and is commonly known as Walton Lighthouse. Built in 2001 through donations, it was funded in part by local businessman Charles Walton, who contributed $60,000 in memory of his brother Derek Walton, a merchant seaman. That memorial gift gave the lighthouse its widely used Walton name. Distinct from the older Santa Cruz Light about 1.5 miles to the west above Steamer Lane, the breakwater lighthouse serves both as a navigational aid and as a prominent local landmark linked to the Walton family.
