Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee is a 1,176-acre state park, botanical garden, and historic site within the Killearn Plantation Archeological and Historic District. The land evolved from part of the antebellum Andalusia Plantation to a vineyard, then a quail-hunting estate called Lac-Cal. In 1923 Alfred Barmore Maclay and Louise Fleischman assembled a larger estate named Killearn and developed the ornamental gardens, work Louise continued after his death. She opened the gardens to the public in 1946 and later donated much of the property. Known for azaleas, camellias, native plant collections, lakes, and the furnished 1909 Maclay House, the park blends historic landscape and outdoor recreation.
