Sawgrass Lake is a Brevard County, Florida, lake near the headwaters of the St. Johns River and one of the lakes that help form the river. Managed by the St. Johns Water Management District, it is typically reached by boat from a ramp on U.S. Route 192 along the river’s west shore. Because the river moves slowly here, the lake stays relatively limited in size at about 4 miles across and less than 1,000 acres. About 3 miles upstream lies Lake Washington, the county’s largest lake, while nearby Little Sawgrass Lake adds to the same quiet headwaters setting.
