Old White Marsh Episcopal Church was originally built before 1690. Its early 18th century rector was the Reverend Daniel Maynadier. A later provincial rector, the Reverend Thomas Bacon, who served from 1764 to 1768, compiled “Bacon’s Laws,” an authoritative compendium of Colonial Statutes. Thomas John Claggett, the first Episcopal Bishop of Maryland, officiated here in 1793, and Robert Morris, Sr., father of the Revolutionary financier, is buried here. The church burned in 1892 and was partially restored in 1977.
