Formerly located upstream 2 miles at Old Brown's Ferry, the Louie Morris Bridge was relocated in 1958. It was erected by the Highway Departments of South Carolina and Georgia in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Public Roads, named in honor of Louie Morris, editor of the Hartwell Sun, in recognition of his untiring efforts in securing its erection, and dedicated October 11, 1940.
