The Avon Area Veterans Memorial is dedicated to all veterans with the words “All Gave Some Some Gave All,” honors Arthur Wissman, Albert Burbeck, Henry Giedd, Lester R. Arneson, Kenneth Vaughters, and Cyril Weddell as those who gave all, and records a long roll of people who proudly served, alongside memorial tributes to Christian and Louise (Heil) Sattler, Christ J. and Rosella Wittmeier, Philipp and Barbara Heil, Robert W. and Ruth E. Griffith, Jacob “Jake” and Kathryn “Katie” Heil, Earl G. and Lois (Heil) Jurrens, John A. and Thelma (Mitchell) Engel, and American Legion Auxiliary members past and present, as well as noting donations by the families of Lester and Kenneth Powers and identifying LTC David L Wicken, Ret., veteran of WWI, WWII, and Korea, as the first Avon Legion Commander.
