The Battle of Red Buttes occurred across the North Platte River on July 26, 1865. It was later reenacted at Governor's Island, N.Y., on June 21 and 22, 1930, by Headquarters 2d, Corps Area, United States Army under H.E. Ely, Major General Commanding.
