Placid Lake State Park is a 31-acre public recreation area in western Montana at the eastern end of Placid Lake, where the lake drains into Owl Creek, a tributary of the Clearwater River. The lake was named by Hiram Blanchard, a New Yorker who came to the area in 1892 to establish the Clearwater Land and Livestock Company, drawing the name from Lake Placid in New York's Adirondack Mountains. A dam below the outlet was completed in 1972, and the park was established in 1977. Known for scenery and easy water access, it offers camping, swimming, boating, fishing, and birdwatching along wetlands and shoreline.
