Hastings Museum in Hastings, Nebraska preserves the natural and cultural history of the city, its region, and the Great Plains through collections that include pioneer life, fossils, minerals, weapons, antique vehicles, coins, a planetarium, and exhibits tied to local history. Founded in January 1926 and opened that June, it grew from early collections associated with Adam Breede and Albert Brooking, whose artifacts and mounted birds helped shape the institution. A permanent building, announced in 1936 as a Works Progress Administration project, was dedicated on June 15, 1939. Especially known for its Kool-Aid exhibit, the museum also hosts an annual Native American festival and later expanded with the Lied IMAX Theater.
