Paola Veterans' Memorial was erected in 1916 in honor of the country's defenders by the school children of Miami County and the D.O. Sellers Family, and in 1968 it was dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice. It honors Miami County's dead from the Spanish War and Philippines, listing those killed in action and those who died in service, and from World War, listing those killed in battle and those who died in service. In 1925, additional commemorative work was erected, and carved in the base are the words Courage, Patriotism, Heroism, and Loyalty.
