Washington Crossing Historic Park in Pennsylvania preserves the place most closely associated with George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River on the night of December 25–26, 1776, when about 2,400 soldiers passed over at McConkey’s Ferry before the attack on Trenton. At a low point in the American Revolution, the crossing helped revive American morale, and the next morning the Hessian garrison surrendered without American battle casualties. The park includes historic buildings such as McConkey’s Ferry Inn, replica Durham boats, Bowman's Hill Tower, the Thompson-Neely House and military graves, linking the dramatic campaign to a broader preserved Revolutionary landscape.
