Mount Pulaski Courthouse is a preserved Greek Revival brick courthouse built in 1848 as Logan County's seat, a role it held until 1855. Citizens of Mount Pulaski helped finance the more substantial masonry building, which replaced an earlier frame courthouse. It is one of only two surviving courthouses from Illinois's old Eighth Circuit, where Abraham Lincoln frequently traveled from Springfield to practice law after his term in the U.S. House. After the county seat moved to the new rail-centered town of Lincoln, the building served other civic purposes. Restored in the 1930s, it is valued for both its architecture and its link to Lincoln-era Illinois.
