History
10
Since the 1880’s, this neighborhood has hosted a vibrant African-American community. Its residents, some descended from former slaves, migrated from other places and contributed greatly to the development and culture of Dunedin. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Bethel AME Church, Church of Christ, Chase Memorial Elementary School, Carver Nursery School, Marie Hart’s Café, and Dewey’s Place were hubs of activity in the community.
