Milk Bottle Grocery is a distinctive triangular commercial building in Oklahoma City, built in 1930 on a wedge-shaped corner created by Classen Boulevard’s diagonal path through the city grid. Known as Triangle Grocery from 1940 to about 1948, it took its later name after a large rooftop milk bottle was added around 1948 to attract motorists along Classen Boulevard, then part of U.S. Route 66, and to advertise the dairy trade. One of the city’s few triangular commercial structures, it became a memorable roadside landmark and a notable example of Route 66-era commercial design. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 5, 1998, and restoration plans were announced in August 2014.
