The people of the Town of Paris erected a Great War memorial in honor of those who offered their lives in the Great World War of 1914–1918, naming the honored dead as Lieutenant Glenn D. Wicks, Seaman Roy D. Cockett, Private Arthur J. Gendron, Corporal Granville S. Niles, and Private Alton M. Sherman, and also listing officers, lieutenants, sergeants, corporals, privates, and seamen from the town. It was dedicated in 1920.
