Delta Heritage Trail State Park in eastern Arkansas follows an abandoned Union Pacific railroad corridor through the Mississippi Delta lowlands, turning a historic transportation route into a long-distance recreation trail. Covering about 960 acres in parts of Desha and Phillips counties, it was developed as a rails-to-trails project with help from the National Trails System Act. Dedicated first in 2002, the park is planned to span 84.46 miles and connect Delta communities including Lexa, Elaine, Watson, Rohwer, and Arkansas City. Developed sections now run from Lexa to Snow Lake and from Arkansas City to the White River at Yancopin, with the remaining middle segment funded in 2021 and planned for completion in 2025.
