Falls of the Ohio State Park, on the Ohio River at Clarksville opposite Louisville, is part of the Falls of the Ohio National Wildlife Conservation Area and is especially known for its exposed Devonian fossil beds in the Jeffersonville Limestone, which attract about 160,000 visitors annually. Along with these notable riverbank exposures, the park includes a public interpretive center whose exhibits cover both the fossil beds’ natural history and the human history of Louisville and southern Indiana from pre-settlement through the 20th century. The site also figures in frontier history as the place where Lewis and Clark met at George Rogers Clark’s cabin.
